Top Fuel rookie Cameron Ferre rode out a wild fireball on Terry Haddock's Top Fueler after engine damage in the first qualifying session of the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals.

“It was on our usual .97-ish run then just let go,” said Ferre. “Unfortunately, it threw two rods. By the look of the computer, it spun a bearing or an oil galley got plugged because the oil psi jumped super high, which usually will be a bearing failure.”
