Martin, Mich., 2:23 pm (ET)—Gates are now open for the inaugural Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals presented by MOPAR at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park.

The NHRA Simpson Safety Safari is on track removing water from the racing surface and preparing the facility for competition. NHRA believes a window of opportunity has opened for on-track action today and is working hard to seize it for race fans. Race teams are here, the pits are buzzing with energy, and fans are welcome to come walk the pits and meet their favorite drivers. 

NHRA Targets 3:00 P.M. Start for Saturday Action at Great Lakes Nationals

NHRA officials are working to take advantage of an improving weather window at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, with professional qualifying and sportsman eliminations scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

NHRA officials believe a window of opportunity has opened for on-track action and are working diligently to take advantage of it for the race fans in attendance.

Saturday’s intended racing program is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. with the third qualifying session for the four NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series professional categories. A fourth professional qualifying session is also planned, along with the remaining rounds and finals in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and Top Sportsman.
